Midline catheters sit in the upper arm and are ideal for patients who need 1 to 4 weeks of IV therapy but do not require a central line. They spare veins, reduce infiltration, and are placed at the bedside.
Midlines are placed with ultrasound guidance and are commonly used for antibiotics, hydration, and other non-vesicant infusions.
